Today, visitors can stroll through the village , where numerous old Sami huts and wooden cabins still stand. Some are already dilapidated, while others are still used for special celebrations. The place has a very special atmosphere —it's almost as if you're walking through an open-air museum that's still alive.

🚐 On the Vildmarksvägen to Stekenjokk – experience reindeer up close!

After visiting Fatmomakke, we continue our journey along the famous Vildmarksvägen , one of Sweden's most spectacular roads. The section through the Stekenjokk Plateau leads through a barren, breathtaking landscape at an altitude of 876 meters .
And then what we had secretly hoped for happened: Suddenly, we found ourselves in the middle of a huge herd of reindeer! 🦌😍 The animals were grazing peacefully next to the road, crossing the lane serenely, and were barely disturbed by our motorhome.
💡 Good to know: The Sami use this region as a summer pasture for their reindeer . In winter, the herds move to lower, snow-free areas. Therefore, a reindeer encounter is quickly guaranteed here during the summer months!

🌊 Brakkafallet & Hällingsåfallet – Sweden's impressive waterfalls

After our unforgettable encounter with the reindeer, we continue to Brakkafallet , a hidden, multi-tiered waterfall in the middle of the forest. Here, we enjoy the tranquility of nature—until a minor accident abruptly ends our hike. 😅

To round off the day, we'll visit Hällingsåfallet , one of Sweden's most spectacular waterfalls . The water plunges 40 meters into a deep gorge , considered one of the longest in Scandinavia. The power of this waterfall is impressive , and with a bit of luck, you might even see rainbows in the spray.
