Through the Swiss Alps in Spring

Up the Klausen Pass by Quad

After our first day of travel in Switzerland, a special highlight was on the agenda. The Klausen Pass is one of the most famous Alpine passes in Switzerland and brought back many memories for Robin of earlier trips with his parents in a motorhome.

But this time, everything was to be a little different. Instead of a motorhome, we went up into the Swiss mountains by quad. Winding pass roads, impressive waterfalls, and plenty of adventure awaited us.

📍 Highlights & Chapters:

Drive up to Klausen Pass

After a leisurely breakfast, we started the day full of anticipation. Our destination was the Klausen Pass, one of the most beautiful Alpine passes in Switzerland.

For Robin, this route was very special. As a child, he had driven over the pass several times with his parents in a motorhome. The memories of the imposing mountains and countless curves have remained with him to this day.

This time, however, a different adventure awaited us.

We left the motorhome behind and explored the route by quad. After just a few kilometers, it became clear that this would be an unforgettable day. The road wound through the mountains, and a new panorama of the Swiss Alps opened up behind every bend.

The higher we got, the more impressive the views became. Patches of snow still lay on some slopes, and the peaks majestically rose into the sky.

On the way to the summit, we repeatedly discovered small waterfalls along the route. The combination of rugged rocks, green alpine meadows, and the quad made this stop a special photo opportunity.

Waterfall along the way

On the way to the pass summit, we discovered a small waterfall directly next to the road.

Of course, we didn't miss the opportunity and made a short stop. The clear mountain water rushed over the rocks and provided a beautiful backdrop for photos and videos.

It's precisely these spontaneous stops that make a trip through the Alps so appealing to us. Often, it's the unplanned moments that are remembered longest.

Klausen Pass Summit

A little later we reached the summit of the Klausen Pass.

From up here, there was a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The fresh mountain air, the tranquility, and the impressive landscape made this place one of the highlights of our day.

We thoroughly enjoyed the view and let the special atmosphere soak in.

Done! The Klausen Pass summit at 1952 meters above sea level. One of the most beautiful Alpine passes in Switzerland and a true highlight of our quad tour through the Swiss mountains.

Quad Photoshoot

Naturally, we used the impressive backdrop for some souvenir photos.

At a viewpoint overlooking the pass road, we positioned the quad and took numerous shots. The combination of mountain scenery, winding road, and our quad made for fantastic motifs.

It's moments like these that show how versatile Switzerland is as a travel destination.

Spring in the valley, winter in the mountains. Even in early June, large snowfields still lay along the Klausen Pass route, creating an impressive alpine backdrop.

Diesbach Waterfall

On the way back, we wanted to discover more natural highlights.

Our next stop took us to the Diesbach Waterfall. The water plunges powerfully over the rocks into the depths, creating an impressive natural spectacle.

Although the waterfall is not particularly well-known, this place immediately thrilled us.

The Diesbach Waterfall is one of the most impressive waterfalls of our Switzerland trip. After a short hike, we were rewarded with this spectacular natural spectacle.

Berglistüber Waterfall

After a brief search, we spontaneously decided to make another detour.

Our destination was the Berglistüber Waterfall.

After we parked the vehicle, a short hike of just a few minutes led directly to the waterfall. Even at first glance, we knew the trip had been worth it.

The masses of water partly disappear behind the rocks, creating an impressive backdrop. For us, the Berglistüber Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls on this Switzerland trip.

The Diesbach Waterfall surprised us completely. We only intended to stop briefly, but the impressive scenery made this spot one of our most beautiful photo stops on the Klausen Pass.

Don Discovers the Water

Back at the motorhome, we grabbed Don and went for another long walk in nature.

When we passed a stream, our husky couldn't hold back. Within seconds, he was in the middle of the water, enjoying the cool-down.

His enthusiasm was contagious and provided us with many funny moments. Even though we later had a wet dog in the motorhome again, we would never want to miss such moments.

Don couldn't hold back. As soon as he discovered the clear mountain river, he jumped straight into the cool water and enjoyed the refreshment in the Swiss Alps.

New Travel Day

The night was much rougher than expected.

Wind and rain swept over the mountains, leaving us with little sleep. Nevertheless, we were greeted in the morning by a beautiful atmosphere over the Alps.

After our first coffee, we thought about the day's program. The weather didn't look particularly promising, but giving up was not an option for us.

Klausen Pass from the other side

So we unloaded the quad again and set off.

This time we wanted to explore the Klausen Pass from the other side. Initially, it remained dry, but soon a strong rain front moved over the mountains.

Within a very short time, the pleasant excursion turned into a rather wet affair.

Nevertheless, we enjoyed the ride. The low-hanging clouds and the rugged mountain landscape gave the route a very special atmosphere.

On our drive over the Klausen Pass, the route led through small Swiss mountain villages with rushing mountain streams and impressive alpine scenery.

Hotel Klausenpass

On our tour, we finally reached the Hotel Klausenpass.

Here, we took a short break and enjoyed the view of the surrounding mountains. Even in bad weather, the region has its own unique charm.

The traditional Hotel Klausenpass is located directly on the pass summit and is a popular stopover for motorcyclists, motorhome travelers, and hikers.

During our quad tour over the Klausen Pass, we stopped at Hotel Klausenpass. Despite rain and low-hanging clouds, the mountain world showed its impressive side.

Return to the motorhome

As the rain intensified, we finally decided to drive back down into the valley.

Once there, we found a nice spot to stay overnight and even received permission to spend the night there.

After the turbulent weather conditions, we hoped for a calmer night and were already looking forward to our next adventures in Switzerland.

Our quad and motorhome on the Klausen Pass. The Swiss Alps always offer fantastic photo opportunities and unforgettable travel experiences.

Conclusion

Our tour over the Klausen Pass was one of the absolute highlights of our Switzerland trip. Breathtaking mountain landscapes, impressive waterfalls, and fantastic views made this day an unforgettable experience. It was especially nice for Robin to return to a place he had visited as a child with his parents – this time, however, with our own motorhome and quad.

In addition to well-known sights like the Berglistüber waterfall, we were also surprised by smaller natural highlights such as the Diesbach waterfall or the numerous photo stops along the pass road. These spontaneous discoveries are what makes motorhome travel so appealing to us.

If you're traveling through Switzerland by motorhome, you should definitely include the Klausen Pass in your itinerary. With enough time for stopovers, short hikes, and the impressive panoramas, this route is one of the most beautiful Alpine passes in Switzerland for us.
