Through the desert with a motorhome – our adventure in the Bardenas Reales!

Our journey took us to the small village of Arguedas , considered the gateway to the Bardenas Reales. Here, there's a free parking space right at the foot of the impressive Cuevas de Arguedas – ancient cave dwellings once inhabited by locals.

We left our motorhome here and explored the area from the air – with our drone . The shots of the caves and the surrounding landscape were simply breathtaking! 🏚️✨ 

On New Year's Eve, we prepared for a cozy evening: ✅ Campfire lit 🔥 ✅ Raclette from the Omnia oven 🧀 ✅ Stick bread directly over the flames 🥖 ✅ Relaxed atmosphere under the starry sky 🌌        

As we enjoyed our meal, the fog slowly drifting into the desert created a mystical atmosphere . An unforgettable New Year's Eve! 🎇  

The next morning, we planned to set off on our quad bike—but thick fog and freezing temperatures put a stop to our plans. ❄️ So we decided to explore the desert on our own in our motorhome.  

🚜 Our highlights in the Bardenas Reales: 

• Military base in the middle of the desert – impressive and surreal! 🏜️

• Suddenly a washed-away road – and now? 🤯

• Castile and León – the symbol of the desert, formed by wind and rain 🌄

The fog that accompanied us through the desert, in particular, quickly gave the landscape an eerie atmosphere. A true sense of adventure!  

No visit to the Bardenas Reales is complete without a stop at the Castil de Tierra . This iconic rock formation is the region's flagship – but wind and weather are taking their toll on it. Experts predict that the topmost stone will fall in the next few years . A sad, yet fascinating, thought.
